British Columbia Permanently Adds Entrepreneur Regional Pilot Program

In a bid to strengthen its entrepreneurial ecosystem, Canada’s British Columbia province has made the Entrepreneur Regional Pilot Program a permanent part of its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This program is now called Entrepreneur Immigration (EI) Regional Stream and it is intended at attracting foreign businesspersons who wish to start businesses that can foster the growth of their economy.

It provides immigrant entrepreneurs with a way to become permanent residents in BC. Those chosen for participation will have a chance of residing or working in British Columbia temporarily with the aim of becoming Canadian citizens permanently after successfully setting up their enterprises.

To be eligible for the EI Regional Stream, applicants must meet a set of criteria, including:

  • Establishing a new business that aligns with the priorities of the local community
  • Demonstrating experience in business management
  • Possessing a net worth of at least CAD 300,000
  • Investing a minimum of CAD 100,000 in the business
  • Creating full-time employment for a Canadian permanent resident or citizen
  • Achieving a language proficiency of at least CLB level 4
  • Holding or being eligible for legal Canadian immigration status
